Today is Saturn-day, so my question is: How will Saturn’s role change as he moves into Pisces? Right now, Saturn is halfway through the final degree of Aquarius and will cross into Pisces on March 7. According to sidereal astrology, which aligns to the current state of the constellations in the sky, this ingress will be happening in Aries. I always feel like there’s no way these two signs can be more different, and their relationship is something I keep coming to again and again (perhaps because I’m a Pisces sun in the sidereal system and an Aries sun in the traditional system?).
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.” Aries begins the wheel of the zodiac while Pisces ends it, but like the oroboros eating its tail, the beginning and the end are inseparable. The transition from Pisces to Aries is the unconscious coming into awareness, death becoming rebirth. Saturn is the time lord, the one who sets the schedule and places his subordinates in their domains, and he’s coming into the part of the zodiac that deals with dissolving and reforming. “Solve et coagula,” as the alchemists said.
First card out—can’t make this up—is Saturn: Structure. What matter can be found in the watery unconscious to build with? Perhaps only dreams. But maybe it’s in dream that we begin to break from the stubborn insistence that the waking world is the only real thing.
The next two cards are the voice of the soft, deep, feminine Pisces, offering her unlimited possibility to the one who forms. Being so flexible and so adaptable requires trust in one’s own nature and being, a practice of self-nurturing, and detachment from specific outcomes. This is a sculpture that emerges based on the character of the stone, not the force of the sculptor.
The final two cards seem to be a clear statement of Saturn’s role in Pisces: “Co-Create” and “Breathe”. This is not the schoolmaster or the tight-ass boss: this is Saturn as shape-giver in union with his material; with every breath comes a new outline, a new shape that will become slightly different again with the next. This is the spirit moving over the primordial waters, sound giving birth to light.
