It’s hard to think about having power without assuming there is a subject—person, tool, idea, domain—that you have power over. Being power rather than wielding power is a possibility that has been denied us for a long time. The panther may be caged and separated from her natural home, but her innate power cannot be taken from her. Earth humans lie to ourselves about the nature of power every day, as we assume that those who control resources or people or thoughts are vested with some quality of power that the rest of us do not have.
Those who wield power through control of minds and resources are posers. Fakes. We think of grifters and scammers, but political figures and billionaires and cops are of the same ilk. They have no more innate power than you or me. Of course, they can still oppress us and jail us and kill us. But even that doesn’t change the power that we are. The sun jewel I see on the panther’s forehead is a reminder that we are seeds of a Source of deep mystery and great power, no matter the poverty of our circumstances.
May the realization of the power we are, always and forever, change the balance of the world we experience. Remember this when you see the number 44.
